now first off i am completely uneducated when it comes to most of the topics covered in the address tonight and i am not going to try to fool anyone with this post, but there are a few things that i just dont understand. One is the constant halting of the speech for the standing ovations... okay i get it you like what he said, why not wait until the very end of the speech and stand up and cheer your little hearts out. The screen shots i have taken were one right after he speaks of the Cuba, and shortly after when Alan Gross is given his standing ovation. I was fine with that one, obviously Obama was ready for a voice break so he changed subject for a few minutes and then went right back into the subject of the Cuban crisis.
The standing ovation I understand. and finally this post on my twitter feed was right below a poll taken. The poll is interesting as well, but seriously this is the reason i cant stand everyone having the right to a twitter. Just read her tweet and enjoy the classic tweets we all read every single day.
Thank you for breaking up my feed of regular #sotu post and giving me a laugh.
I was not effected personally by the address nor have i been swayed to one side or another. One thing that is easily noticed is Obama is very good with his words and persuading he media. Much better at addressing the media than say president Bush ever was. Although it was much more entertaining to listen to Bush slaughter his attempts.

Hayden, initially i felt the same way about watching this speech. I am really unfamiliar with the topics that were addressed. I tried my best to learn about these issues that i should have knowledge of, but it still was difficult to understand without full understanding of how certain issues came about. However, i think Obama did a very well job of persuading the audience and at least keeping me interested regardless of my lack of knowledge.
ReplyDeleteyes i agree with your statement that Obama kept people hooked. He is a great speaker and has an incredible ability to say what people want to hear and also inform at the same time. Thanks for your comments.
DeleteOh my gosh I totally agree with the ovations! It was completely annoying and unnecessary! I too, am very uneducated when it comes to political stuff but I agree that the way he talked seemed to make it a little easier to understand and almost persuade me. It does make me wonder if he actual wrote the speech himself or not?
ReplyDeleteEvery time he speaks he leaves me wondering how much of his speech he actually had any part in writing. His speech writer is a magician.
DeleteGood work Hayden I thought the random ovations were iritateing as well. how about the randomness of people who got put n screen with a title under their name like one lady it said her name and ommunity college student.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and those had to have been planned because how else would they know who the hell is in the Audience and where they are seated. Just lost my interest real quick
Deleteyeah, i thought it was kind of weird when he would say something and then 4 people would stand up and join the others standing. This just don't make sense to me
